Day 2 & 3:  Arusha – Tarangire National Park

"Tarangire Park "

After breakfast in Arusha, you will be driven to Tarangire National Park, the third largest national park in Tanzania. There will be many opportunities for game viewing as we drive through the park.  After a stop for lunch at Tarangire Safari Lodge, you will have time to unpack and maybe rest before the afternoon game drive. Tarangire contains a range of ecosystems from grassland and woodlands in the north, to scrub and wetlands further south.

The Tarangire river cuts through the park and empties into Lake Burunge in the west. Tarangire boasts one of the largest and most conspicuous elephant populations in East Africa. There are large family groups with many calves being born each year as the population continues to recover from the devastating effects of poaching in the eighties. You will see herds of elephants and experience close contact with the matriarchs, the babies, teenagers, and bulls.

Your close contact will help you in understanding these incredible animals. Spend several hours surrounded by the herds and you cannot help but feel their wisdom. Tarangire is also known for its abundant baobab trees, most of which are over 400 years  old and the beautiful landscape. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge.

Day 4:  Tarangire – Manyara – Karatu
After breakfast, we will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive and have a picnic lunch. While Manyara is one of the smallest parks, it is one of the most interesting.  Much of the northern part of the park is fed by underground water from the Ngorongoro Highlands and as a result is covered in dense forest vegetation, giving the appearance of a tropical jungle.

This forest is ideal habitat for elephant, bushbuck, blue monkey, and huge troops of olive baboon. Some parts are dry bush land attracting zebra, impala and giraffe, while the lakeshore provides another habitat, perfect for flamingos and other shore birds. Our game drive will take us slowly south through the park and later in the afternoon proceed to Gibbs farm. We will have dinner and stay the night at the lodge.Dinner and Overnight at  - EILEENS LODGE –  FB

"Serengeti Park"

After an early  breakfast, we will drive to the Ndutu area of the Serengeti.  A slow drive over the Ngorongoro plains to Olduvai Gorge on the eastern boundary of the Serengeti Ecological Unit.  Here the Leakey’s found the hominid remains Australopithecus, Homo habilis and Homo erectus, plus many other fossils exhibited in the excellent, small museum at Olduvai. Thereafter we will drive off across the Ngorongoro to Ndutu plains – using private gamedrive roads..In February, the Ndutu plains is where we will mainly concentrate our game drive, this the favourite resting place of the wildebeests with its rich short grass.  During this time most of the herds will be based around Ndutu and east towards Oldupai and as far east as the western outer slopes of the

"Ngorongoro crater"

The objective of the wildebeest is to settle around the rich grazing of the Ndutu area for the next few months. This is the best grazing in the Serengeti  eco-system. They will only leave this area when the grazing is depleted and their foals are ready to start moving west – around end of March -  as in between January and end of March each year  The rains causes new shoots making the areas very green – thus attacting these millions and millions of wilderbeests and zebras – where also there will be uncountable number of predators such as lions, hyienas, jackals and so on following closely the migration, picking off the weak and vulnerable; indeed this is an adventure.

There will be many chances also to spot the resident mammals and birds of the area- spotted hyenas, golden and silver – backed jackals, cori bustards, Thomson and grant gazelles may be spotted.

At the end of the journey across the plains, we arrive at the Serengeti serena safari  Lodge for two nights; that is  located in an area of the bush where you can experience living in the wild of Africa. Serengeti Serena as one of the properties on the list – with a spacious verandah in front of your room is furnished with comfortable safari chairs and tables - the perfect retreat for a relaxing moment watching a weaver bird building its nest in a nearby Acacia tree, African cape buffaloes grazing quietly only meters away, or simply relaxing and listening to the sounds of the African bush. Your bathroom is complete with a dressing table and is fully plumbed with washbasin, lavatory and showers – a new and often surprising interpretation of ‘safari in the Endless plain of

Siringet " Endless Plains "

These two days will be spent exploring the grassy plains and woodlands in the areas of the  Serengeti and the Ndutu plains  -  tracking the massed herds of wildebeest and zebra, watching the birth of new calves, and seeking predators such as lion, cheetah and hyena on the hunt. The area also teems with other wildlife, including elephants, eland, various gazelle species, Kirk’s dik-dik, giraffe and, if we’re lucky, the elusive leopard.  Dinner and Nights at  SERONERA WILDLIFE LODGE OR SERENA  – FULL BOARD BASIS.

Day 9:  Ngorongoro Crater

We depart after a hot buffet breakfast from the seronera wildlife lodge  and drive to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. This will be a full day game drive with an organized lunch in the Crater.  We will descend more than 2000 feet on steep tracks cut into the crater wall to reach the open plains of the Crater floor;  this is the eighth wonder of the world.

The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best places in Tanzania to view black rhino as well as large prides of lion that include magnificent black-manned males.  It is also home to huge herds of wildebeest and zebra and many other plains game.  An alkaline lake in the floor of the Crater provides a habitat for colorful flamingo and a variety of other water birds. Massive bull elephants feed in the swamps.  We will have our lunch at the hippo pool and do a game drive on the way to the NGORONGORO WILD LIFE  LODGE or  SERENA  for overnight.  FULL BOARD BASIS.

Day 10:  Arusha – Depart
Today you will have a leisurely breakfast and then start the drive to Arusha for Shopping and transfer to the airport or border per next schedule.
