The “ Wildbeests and Zebra ”   - At serengeti and Ngorongoro

Birds and wildlife safari
Tarangire is a great birdwatching site with more than 500 species recorded. The swamps, tinged green year round, have the most breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world. It also harbors several dry country bird species at the extremity of their range, like the pied babbler and vulturine guineafowl.

Serious bird-lovers might keep an eye open for flocks of the dazzlingly colorful yellow-collared lovebird, and the somewhat drabber rufous-tailed weaver and ashy starling – all endemic to the dry savannah of north-central Tanzania. Migratory birds are present from November to April.

Day 1: Arrival day in Tanzania
On arrival to Tanzania , you will be picked by your safari Driver guide , who will transfer you to Arusha for meals and Overnight . MOUNT MERU HOTEL .

Arusha national park – some 20 miles away from Arusha city centre. Arusha park is famous for black and white colobus monkeys , blue monkey ,  baboons , giraffes , buffaloes ,   Lots of birds species ,  and an interesting momella lakes where the lesser and greater flamingos can be easily seen , as well as the ngurdoto crater.

The entrance gate leads into shadowy montane forest inhabited by inquisitive blue monkeys and colourful turacos and trogons – the only place on the northern safari circuit where the acrobatic black-and-white colobus monkey is easily seen. In the midst of the forest stands the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater, whose steep, rocky cliffs enclose a wide marshy floor dotted with herds of buffalo and warthog. Lunch at the momela lodge ,  a short safari will follow up , then later proceed to Arusha – Meals and overnight at -  MOMELLA WILDLIFE LODGE – FB

After breakfast served at the Momella wildlife lodge ,  We  will drive to Tarangire National Park, the third largest national park in Tanzania. There will be many opportunities for game viewing as we drive through the park. You will have to drive directly to the park for game viewing, and you will later join for a bush lunch in the park. Tarangire contains a range of ecosystems from grassland and woodlands in the north, to scrub and wetlands further south. The Tarangire river cuts through the park and empties into Lake Burunge in the west.  Later dinner and overnight at  Tarangire sopa lodge or  Safari lodge   -  Full board basis  - ( FB ).

Day 4 : Tarangire National Park -  Full day safari

Tarangire boasts one of the largest and most conspicuous elephant populations in East Africa. There are large family groups with many calves being born each year as the population continues to recover from the devastating effects of poaching in the eighties. You will see herds of elephants and experience close contact with the matriarchs, the babies, teenagers, and bulls. Your close contact will help you in understanding these incredible animals. Spend several hours surrounded by the herds and you cannot help but feel their wisdom. Tarangire is also known for its abundant baobab trees, most of which are over 400 years  old and the beautiful landscape.  Meals and Overnigh at TARANGIRE SAFARI LODGE / SOPA

Day 5 : Tarangire - Manyara

Dawn game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, perhaps the most beautiful on the circuit. Famous for its elephants and lions-in-trees, the park boasts rich ground water forest, lakeside grassland and an abundant variety of trees and shrubs. The Lake is famous for its flamingoes, pelicans, storks and shorebirds. During the morning game drive you'll understand why this is where part of Out of Africa was filmed. Dinner and overnight at LAKE MANYARA HOTEL .

Day 6: Manyara - Serengeti Park – Ndutu Area

After an early  breakfast, we will drive to the Ndutu area of the Serengeti.  A slow drive over the Ngorongoro plains to Olduvai Gorge on the eastern boundary of the Serengeti Ecological Unit.  Here the Leakey’s found the hominid remains Australopithecus, Homo habilis and Homo erectus, plus many other fossils exhibited in the excellent, small museum at Olduvai. Thereafter we will drive off across the Ngorongoro to Ndutu plains – using private gamedrive roads..

"SIRINGET" Meaning "The endless Plains of the Serengeti national Park "

In February, the Ndutu plains is where we will mainly concentrate our game drive, this the favourite resting place of the wildebeests with its rich short grass.  During this time most of the herds will be based around Ndutu and east towards Oldupai and as far east as the western outer slopes of the Ngorongoro crater.

The objective of the wildebeest is to settle around the rich grazing of the Ndutu area for the next few months. This is the best grazing in the Serengeti  eco-system. They will only leave this area when the grazing is depleted and their foals are ready to start moving west – around end of March -  as in between January and end of March each year  The rains causes new shoots making the areas very green – thus attacting these millions and millions of wilderbeests and zebras – where also there will be uncountable number of predators such as lions, hyienas, jackals and so on following closely the migration, picking off the weak and vulnerable; indeed this is an adventure.

There will be many chances also to spot the resident mammals and birds of the area- spotted hyenas, golden and silver – backed jackals, cori bustards, Thomson and grant gazelles may be spotted.

At the end of the journey across the plains, we arrive at the Serengeti serena safari  Lodge for two nights; that is  located in an area of the bush where you can experience living in the wild of Africa. Serengeti Serena as one of the properties on the list – with a spacious verandah in front of your room is furnished with comfortable safari chairs and tables - the perfect retreat for a relaxing moment watching a weaver bird building its nest in a nearby Acacia tree, African cape buffaloes grazing quietly only meters away, or simply relaxing and listening to the sounds of the African bush. Your bathroom is complete with a dressing table and is fully plumbed with washbasin, lavatory and showers – a new and often surprising interpretation of ‘safari in the Endless plain of the Serengeti’.

These two days will be spent exploring the grassy plains and woodlands in the areas of the  Serengeti and the Ndutu plains  -  tracking the massed herds of wildebeest and zebra, watching the birth of new calves, and seeking predators such as lion, cheetah and hyena on the hunt. The area also teems with other wildlife, including elephants, eland, various gazelle species, Kirk’s dik-dik, giraffe and, if we’re lucky, the elusive leopard.  Dinner and Night at NDUTU LODGE OR SERONERA WILDLIFE LODGE    –  FULL BOARD BASIS.

Day 7: Depart to ARUSHA  - END .
Today you will depart to Arusha for Lunch  and shopping for those who may need to do so , then after that you will be transfered to the aiport for your flight back home or your next destination .
